Invitrogen Gateway® Entry Clone Resource
Quicklinks:
General Information
The PFGRC, under a licensing and distribution agreement with Invitrogen Corporation, is making available, at no cost to researchers, complete and custom clone sets as Gateway® Entry Clones. Thus far, the PFGRC has produced complete clone sets from these organisms. In addition, researchers may order custom clone sets from the following organisms. In order for the PFGRC to efficiently utilize its resources, the following guidelines have been developed.
- For organisms for which complete clone sets are available, the PFGRC will accept orders for up to 384 Gateway® Entry Clones. If you have a need for the complete clone set, you will be requested to provide a brief project description that specifically defines the rationale for obtaining the complete clone set.
- For organisms for which custom clone sets are available, the PFGRC will accept orders for up to 96 Gateway® Entry Clones.
- Gateway® Entry Clones have been sequence verified as noted.
- An Agreement for the Transfer of NIAID's Pathogen Functional Genomics Resource Center Material and Certification of Compliance with Safety Standards must be completed in order to receive the selected entry clones.
What to Expect:
The PFGRC makes every effort to process your request and deliver sequence validated Gateway® entry clones in a timely fashion. Typically, investigators can expect to receive their requested clones approximately 4-6 weeks after receipt of the signed Certificate of Compliance. However some orders do require additional time to complete, depending on other ongoing activities and the specific nature of the user request. Please note that we ship (on dry ice) glycerol stocks of E. coli cells containing unique sequence validated Gateway® entry clones. Along with your glycerol stocks you will receive a data disk containing sequence validation information for successfully cloned and validated ORFs, the appropriate licensing agreement and a quick getting started guide.
Limitations:
We make every effort to clone and validate all requested ORFs. We do not, however, guarantee 100% success fulfilling any particular set of requested clones. Some ORFs are simply unstable or extremely difficult to sequence validate. Also, it is our experience that ORFs larger than 4 kb are unsuitable to the Gateway® platform and therefore we do not offer to attempt to clone ORFs larger than this.
**Attention International Investigators**
Although the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) would like to provide research materials developed by the Pathogen Functional Genomics Resource Center (PFGRC) to all Investigators, certain materials cannot be shipped outside the borders of the United States of America (USA) due to licensing requirements under Export Administration Regulations currently in place. The materials that will not be shipped outside the USA include, but are not limited to: Bacillus anthracis Gateway® Clone Set and Francisella tularensis, Rickettsia prowazekii, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae and Yersinia pestis Gateway® Custom Clone Sets.
Ordering Instructions:
You may begin the process of ordering clones by clicking on Select an Organism. Once you have selected the loci for which you require Gateway® Entry Clones, you will need to format a tab-delimited text file, with up to 384 rows, where each row lists an individual locus (example - SP0001). Please see the instruction for creating a clone request file below.
Select Upload Clone Request from this page to obtain simple instructions for uploading your tab-delimited text file to the PFGRC Gateway® Cloning Group.
